A group of suspected Islamic militants attacked government soldiers guarding a school building in the southern Philippines, Sunday, September 25, 2011. Inevitable firefight, 15 people from both sides were reported killed. Reporting from news agency Associated Press , a mob consisting of 50 armed men attacked two detachments of Marines in the town of Talipao at dawn. The shootout lasted for two hours. A total of 13 militants were reported killed, while two people from the camp Marines were killed. The attackers allegedly is a new member of the Abu Sayyaf group which is known often resort to violence.
The new group is named Awliyah is already staked out by the Marines for a year. "There are certain people who oppose the country's development plans, therefore the mayor became very angry," said Marine Commandant Tanalgo Romeo. He also said, most of the militants equipped with M16 rifles. As a result of this incident, a Muslim wedding in Talipao were canceled. Residents are angry with plans to help the army to demolish the militants. However, their intention was rejected by the Marines army. The Abu Sayyaf has been declared a terrorist group by the United States and the Philippines. They have linkages with the world's number one terrorist network al-Qaeda and is known also as a radical member of the rebel group Moro Liberation Front.
